NANCY’S ARTISTIC JOURNEY
I began making jewelry in 1982 after getting snagged off the travel route in Haines, Alaska to make silver and brass earrings and pendants for a local multi-media artist. Being drawn to the beadwork of local Alaska Native artists, I soon began to experiment with my own designs and have been beading ever since. I ended up living in southeast Alaska for 21 years, with a 4-year stint in Seattle in between that time. In 2007, I moved to Astoria, Oregon. My beadwork has been shown in shops, galleries and craft markets in Alaska and on the northern Oregon coast. In my “other life” as a psychotherapist, creating bead work and fiber art has been a wonderful complement to my work as a therapist. It provides balance, meditative absorption, and healing.
